8 Things You Should Remember Doing Before Going on a Vacation

With the dry season in full swing, most families will be planning out their travel itineraries on where to spend the summer. More likely than not, you have done this before: made preparations in advance, packed everything days earlier, left confident, but still forgot something!

Don’t ruin your vacation by failing to plan. Check out this list of things to remember and never again get stressed!

  1. Confirm all reservations

This seems to be an obvious thing to do. With you and your family and friends traveling to another place with only your reservations as sure places to stay, it is not a bad idea to double-check them all. If possible, print all of them. Include contact information and the names of the people you’ve talked with so you know who to ask for if problems arise at the check-in counter.

  1. Check the weather

Another seemingly obvious thing to do but travelers forget nonetheless. A good attitude when it comes to planning for weather is the adage “hope for the best, prepare for the worst.” Check the forecast for your destination for the dates when you are to arrive and for your hometown for dates when you are to return.

  1. Notify your bank

Having your bank updated with your travel plans can come useful. For security purposes, transactions occurring in your hometown using your account on dates you should’ve been someplace else would be easily detected. This can be useful when you begin buying travel cosmetics online. Singapore banks mostly have partners overseas, which can be helpful for doing some over-the-counter transactions.

  1. Pay your bills

An easy thing to forget but easier to anticipate. Check the due date on your bills and pay the ones whose due dates fall within your vacation. It will be very unpleasant to come home and find out that your power or water has been cut because of overdue bills.

  1. Ensure home safety

This should be one of your top priorities! If possible, ask a friend or a family member to home-sit while you are away. If not, inform neighbors you trust of your travel plans, and maybe even give them the spare key in case of an emergency. Make sure you unplug all your home appliances. Singapore might have a reputable emergency response time, but you don’t want to find that out the hard way.

  1. Clean out your fridge

Eat, throw out or give away food items that can spoil. Avoid wastes!

  1. Photocopy important documents

Even though you might have digital copies of your papers (your passport, for one), it is still better to have an extra hardcopy, just in case things go sideways. Identification is crucial especially if you are in a foreign country.

  1. Make a list and double check it

List all important stuff. From essential travel accessories to your passport and other documents, it is better to be sure than sorry. You can scout for a good luggage online in Singapore, a luggage that has many compartments to secure all your stuff. When you start feeling confident, that is when you likely forget something.

Never again have a bad vacation. Keep in mind these reminders and enjoy a worry-free trip!
